Obama and The Falkland’s

I do understand why Argentina claims the Falklands… but it is a completely flawed argument.. Now oil has been found half of South America wants a slice of the action too… But then, on an issue that actually led to a war to protect the rights of freedom of the Falkland Islanders (just prior to the US invading British protectorate of Grenada); for Mr Obama to side with the Argie’s against the UK is pretty much the same if we said give Hawaii to Japan… In fact you did give something to Japan – but it wasn’t Hawaii… it’s been glowing on and off ever since… SEE HERE
Indeed, as history has shown, if the inhabitants truly want independence – then as history proves out, they’d get it. After all, while our ancestors were quick to reach for arms, the war of Independence of the US wasn’t a war won or lost – just stopped and the might of the then empire never brought to bear… and the declaration left to stand as greater benefits were found in trade etc. (in the process of dumping the Fr**ch of course).

The Falklands was a war of significance… where Argentine officers shot shivering conscripts in the feet “just in case” they tried to run away.. This was a war where to win British troops carried their equipment and supplies well over 70 miles on foot over mountainous terrain in sub zero temperatures to rescue and save the freedom of the islands inhabitants from the invading Argentine forces. We lost ships – and they did too when we started torpedoing theirs, and the British troops were, for the most part, significantly out numbered
It was also the first war in modern history where both sides used almost identical weaponry on the field of battle.

Anyway, when protection of others come into play and where a threat to sovereignty rears it’s head, British history is absolute – it’s the same to us as when this country declared war on Adolf Hitler!! It may bankrupt us, it may make us ration our food so troops can eat and yes, it’s the same thing that drives the back bone or rigidity that withstood the destruction of our cities in the so called Blitz.
So… When Mr Obama wants to understand who we are, come along and make his speeches – he should understand that we do not gather under a flag in search of unity – yet live our lives in contradiction, we don’t need to indoctrinate ourselves or our children with it every day by forcing them to pledge oaths and seeing half Brit flag on everything…. Or claim that women are equally respected and feel safe in the work place when they’re not and don’t, that the right to work is protected when frankly there are no real rights protecting workers that are effective in any way and then keep the whole lie going with a healthy gloss coating of flag talk… It’s just that “We Are” and some things actually run very deep indeed without any indoctrination what so ever, and to Mr Obama – you’re just about to tread on it!!
No, I’m not insulting an entire nation on the words of one man – but do you see how easy it is and how it comes across?
The people of Argentina have been welcome to visit the graves of fallen loved ones, we have indeed honoured the lost of Argentina. But Argentina have not really come to the table “EVER” with anything less than the wish for total sovereignty over the people of the Islands whom do not wish to be anything but British…

I have nothing against any Argentinian, they have an awesome country and culture, likewise while easy to take the earlier dig at the US, I probably have just as many buddies who are American as I have British…. I’m not having a go at the countries as a whole – but someone may wish to take a closer look at foreign policy.

To Mr Obama – just to be clear :

The Falkland Islands are NOT part of “Great Britain” they belong to the Falkland Islanders themselves!! They raise the flag they wish, in part it our’s (as is yours) so we provide nothing more than defence for them – they are an entity to themselves whom choose by their own freedom and democracy to be subjects of HM Queen Elizabeth II

so basically..

Guess what you win on this subject

If you hear an echo, do not be concerned……. it’s because you’re a tall fella

Obama kicking it real at Westminster

Not a great fan, but sometimes he says some interesting things… if you have time,  I recommend you watch it all

I’m doing it :-(

decoratingSo the paint brushes are finally out and I’m painting ARRRGH!!

On top of this, hole diggingsome plaster has come off in the bathroom and the Gas board have turned up to replace the main feed to the property – so life has just got noisy and hectic. That said, I have finally met my new neighbour who seems alright.

Tonight I’m partaking of the Ale. Yes indeed, Dave who owns the Chip shop over the road is coming over at around 7:30pm and we’re off on a pub crawl around Honiton (if such a thing is possible)

Other stuff…EU elec results

The UK and most of Europe voted for new parliamentary persons the other day and I didn’t vote – If I had done, I’d have voted for UKip (UK Independence party) who are against our participation in the EU.
Strangely enough the Labour party (the present ruling UK govt.) got hammered!

The D-Day speeches….

What can I say? Canadian speech = Brilliant, US speech = very good, UK speech = not so much

The Fr**ch speech = OMG! WTF was that?… While it is nice for any country to be complimented – I thought Sarky Sarkosy was reaching for the KY!! Really, that was embarrassing! Even Michelle Obama started to look uncomfortable. Obama didn’t even have to try and walk away at the end of the ceremony – he just slid along on Fr**ch slime!!

LeadersYou see, according to all the nations that took part – it was a relative equal effort by all sides. From this there is a mutual respect for pulling off the impossible…. Even Obama said as much. But to the Fr**ch it was USA all the way.
I’d go as far to say, If that was how the Fr**ch truly felt – then why did we even bother.
2 of those nations could have done D-Day all on there own, but no one wanted to. And the worse part of the ceremony? The fact that the other nations that took part weren’t even there!

And just so we’re clear, in the greater war as a whole, it was Russia that got to Berlin first right.

But what I don’t understand (and Americans, please feel free to comment), is why oh why does a nation feel the need to impress another nation? America does not impress the Brits and the Brits don’t impress the USA. We work together from time to time – but there is a lot of sibling rivalry. Then Sarkosy can’t even speak to Obama in English when his nation was liberated by the predominantly English speaking nations of the world.

Mr Sarkosy – guess what you win this week!

And may I add, I really don’t know of anyone more deserving.

Wow, astory011a4cd6fd4e7048f6f48cf23e7bdfeanother week has shot past and I seem to have done and achieved little. But what an interesting week…

We’ve had this G20 thing that has had the stomach churning Prime Minister of this once great nation playing ‘suck-up’ to Obama, along with half the leaders of the world.  An Obamarticle-1166984-04400d1b000005dc-570_468x300a who came saying ‘I’m here to listen, as well as lead’.  Does this mans arrogance know no bounds?! This was all backed up by the usual protests and scuffles but came nowhere near the level of trouble in Strasbourg for the NATO summit.

Then cagaurdsme the news that Mrs Obama only went and put her arm around HRH The Queen… Now I don’t know if the Obama family have a thing about molesting people, but you don’t ever touch HRH!! Contrary to popular belief, this lady still retains considerable power, not only over her country, but in various other countries of the world. She is NOT a one hit wonder, 4 year term, power mad wannabe…. She is a Queen, and Mrs Obama can count her lucky stars that she didn’t do that in public – after all, we wouldn’t like to see her run through by bayonet fixed and sword wielding guardsmen whos sole job is to do just that…jade_goody

Further news came that Reality TV star Jade Goody was finally put togp1 rest,  the Malaysian GP was literally a wash out.

The Sabine Schmitz article was very well received, It took so long to organise and write that once I had the info I posted it instantly.

A new blog had been listed on my Blogroll under the title ‘Patrol Insanity’. This blog is run by a Quebec Highways Patrol officer and has sadly and almost instantly been removed. I have left it listed in case it suddenly returns.

In the tech world, MIT has come up with a way to ‘grow’ batteries from viral bacteria. Having already achieved the growing of the thinest of electrical conductors (ie wires) several months ago, they are moving at speed to develop this technology. I will be keeping a close eye on this development because it is not only promising but could hold the key to future power storage which is vitally needed.

Other amazing news is that Oskar Schindler’s list has actually been found!! It was found in research notes which belonged to the Australian author of Schindler’s Ark – the basis for the Oscar-winning film, Schindler’s List…

korea_missileNorth Korea finally launched it’s new missile to place a satellite in orbit.  With the US screaming that they would originally shoot it down, then later stated that it simply couldn’t, the Rocket failed anyway. LOL. But more importantly, North Korea has just as much right to stick what they want in space as the USA, and are free to do what they like with missiles as long as they don’t take a pop at someone. Again, I feel and irony when a country has so many missiles, subs, and nuclear weapons, get scared by the launch of one missile they have no control over whatsoever…

Finally, the hip and knee are still giving me grief from my stupid accident two weeks ago. The knee hurts at night and the hip after walking short distances – but I’m sure I’ll be right soon enough

Onward and Upward.

Hmmmm, blog moi

Did I just write a word in Fr**ch?!

I’m sure someone will say if I did or didn’t, but hey, in slang terms I’m saying  “me blog” and pondering at the same time.

I have been rushed off my feet today and yesterday looking for a better job than I’m presently involved with. After all, one needs an income.

Also, I’m stunned at the sheer number of apologies emailed and posted throughout the whole WWW about Obama by our American cousins over the pond. Really, it’s been awesome.usflag

Thankfully, while angry about what has now become the White House standoff towards the UK, we here were born with ye olde Stiff Upper Lip and I’m sure we’ll live.  But also resting assured that while the new crass President was brought up with no manners to speak of – does not mean the rest of the US was brought up the same. Comments throughout the Blogasphere and emails in my inbox prove as much.

So with that, lets have a little music. Just trying to think of a song title…. Are here is one from a band claimed to be from somewhere else but four members of which were born here in old Blighty.
