Euro Games Expo

The other day as a treat, I went to the above Expo at Earls Court, London.
Top of this bill was a beloved game and more importantly – it’s next generation
EA Games/DICE : Battlefield 3!!
In fact I even emailed EA Games to find out a little more than the typically let on and as told to come on down and see for myself..
This is what I saw before I guy jumped in front of me and said “NO PHOTOS!!”
I explained what I was about and he then wanted me to wait while he got someone to verify “my story”…. (?!)
So I asked why the worry when the game is on general release in a matter of days and there is tons already on YouTube – after all, while I wanted to write about it – I simply wanted to show the size of the event (of which Battlefield 3 was truly massive compared to the rest of the expo)…
But he had already blown it, taken all the excitement away and I no longer wished to know….
So Battlefield 3… a lot of gaming, a load of rules, bollocks bull sh*t and fk-all in the giveaway stakes or free merchandise that I could see… we moved on and didn’t bother to return…

So moving away from the area where blasé game builders live, we saw some truly fantastic and innovative stuff… I also go my hands on a lot of Alienware kit which is most impressive!!(albeit, seriously over priced)
I played “Tanks2, and these guys turned up to the Expo with real tanks!
Then some seriously immersive gaming technology care of NVidia and Alienware(Dell) and so on.

To be honest, I felt very much let down by EA, but at the same time thankful that I got to spend more time looking at other tech and games…

As for the Expo, the best bit was the free Doritos on the way out and after my brush with EA, I doubt I’ll be returning in future…
The bad taste? Money spent on travel, tickets and previously spent on EA software…
And EA – you have been successful to the tune of $billions, but that is no excuse for guys jumping in like they did… and if you don’t like my pic – sue me!! But return my entrance fee, travel and food expenses first!!
