You know, that is a heading I never thought I would write…
I’m not a fan of Gordon Brown, or of the way our last few governments have thrown away our national principles, but when it comes to diplomatic relations, the pomp and protocol – certain criteria have to be observed out of nothing more than respect.
So, when our troll, sorry Prime Minister, travels all the way over to see you and finds that for whatever reason you cancelled the joint press conference at the airport – things appear odd.
Then the bust of Winston Churchill that was loaned to the White House is returned, people start thinking – something is amiss.
Then Brown visits the Oval Office, where you sit behind the Resolute Desk, made from the timber of HMS Resolute in 1880 - the lost British ship retrieved from the Arctic and returned by America to London, and whose timbers were used for a ‘thankyou’ gift Queen Victoria sent to Rutherford Hayes. You ac
cept a hand carved pen holder made from the timbers of HMS Resolute sister ship, one of Royal Navy’s anti-slaving ships of the 19th century HMS Gannet, (Even more appropriate, in 1909 the Gannet was renamed HMS President), then a framed commission of HMS Resolute and finally you recieve a seven volume leather bound biography of Sir Winston Churchill.
You can rest assured that Her Majesty’s United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Commonwealth of Nations, the USA’s first ever trading partner, who go to war for each other, who in the last few years have put the men and women of her armed forces at your nation’s disposal and have laid down their lives for your cause and whose Helicopter design (EH101 Merlin) is the only helicopter in the world to be good enough to replace the Marine One fleet, we take this protocol and relationship seriously. The people of the USA are historically joined to this nation.
Thank you SO MUCH for the DVD box set and the two small toy helicopters grabbed from the White House gift shop.
Hey look, I know you haven’t achieved much in your political career to date – no, sorry, I’ll rephrase. Other than getting elected you have achieved SOD ALL in your life to date – do yourself, your nation and the rest of the world a favour – by getting your act together!!
Your press conference with the troll, sorry again, Mr Brown, was disgusting as you tried to think up something nice to say about the UK. I’m not saying you didn’t – but the body language, persona and struggle to find words made GW Bush look like a God of the spoken word on his worse day.
You got the job, you obviously don’t like the UK – but get a bloody grip !
Mr Obama – We are not amused…

6 months. You’ll be wishing Bush was back in office.
Obama has no class, in addition, he clearly knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Great Britain has been a steadfast ally of the United States for decaded, he has thrown it in the trash. Added to which, one of his people was reported as making the following statement to a reporter from the Sunday Telegraph.
“There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.”
Say no more, we get the message, even if Gordon Brown is too thick to work it out!
“There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.”
OMG that is enough right there to bring all the troops back home!!!
At the very real risk of being labeled a “whining Brit”, I was thinking exactly the same, after all, it was never really our war..Blair just wanted to demonstrate solidarity.
I tried to apologize when this happened. I am very sorry for the rudeness extended toward your Prime Minister. Our new President is a self-righteous, narcissistic jackass, I’m afraid.

Please don’t take Obama’s example of how we feel about the UK, we really do love you over here. I am so incredibly embarrassed for my country right now, and am so glad that I didn’t drink the koolaid and vote for this moron.
FATWAH!!! FATWAH!!!!
Hey, Dave Bones – we were only talking a few weeks ago about how soon we’d have the reason and excuse to complain about this President. It was a bit sooner than I thought
No apologies necessary, but your sentiments are much appreciated. Fortunately the relationship between the United States and Great Britain goes much, much deeper than President Obama appreciates. One man may besmirch or attempt to marginalise it, but he cannot single handedly destroy it. Time for CHANGE!
Dave Bones – its Fatwa – no ‘h’. It’s guidance for a legal rulings made by an Islamic scholar. Or more accurately it is used in the context of Islamic Law.
Bin Laden issued 3 of these in which the bottom line was telling people to take up arms against the US.
The problem being is that Osama Bin Laden is not recognised as such.
In Sunni Islam, a fatwa is nothing more than an opinion.
“one of his people was reported as making the following statement to a reporter from the Sunday Telegraph.”
Any hints as to who said person was? Can we play a game of 20 questions? Male/Female?
Not sure I care, but at least has shown his true colours to the global following of believers early in the game.
He is not welcome here and it were up to me, I’d pull the troops out of theatre.
He wants to go it alone – let him.
Heck, I wrote about how slimey this guy is back in Feb of last year – go look.
But…. I thought Obama was this great Messaiah who was going to save the world from that evil Bush guy and make the sea levels fall.
You might wanna take that up with the morons that thought it.
I’m a skeptic of any politician. Most, normally give themselves a little longer to show there true colours.
As a US citizen, I second your sentiments. Obama has no class, no manners, no sense of decency, no work experience, and no appreciation of our time-tested friendships. He’s really a trashy person.
I’m a Republican, so I never would have voted for him anyway, but I sure wasn’t taken in by his, “Vote for me or you’ll PROVE you’re a racist” rhetoric.
A pack of DVD’s! God!
There’s only one good side to this. I have it on good authority that Obama came THAT close (1/4 inch) to giving the PM one of those tin cans of popcorn — you know, the big cans with the cardboard divider and three different flavors of popcorn, like you buy for some relative you don’t like and only see a couple of times a year?
Out of respect for the office of the President and the Prime Minister, I am disappointed that these events transpired. It gives me little comfort to remind people that many US-based conservative blogs were forecasting last summer that Obama was not up to the job. I do not believe Obama’s action’s were a premediated insult, but a glaring display of having insufficient understanding, ability and intention in the area of international diplomacy.
The American and British people have a special bond, so please accept as a sincere warning and as a pre-emptive apology: Regarding our President, prepare yourself to be disappointed in the future.
Guys, I just read these comments and you had me in stitches – cheers
Allow me to add another American’s embarrassment to the mix.
Actually, you are being FAR too generous to even factor in Obama’s absolute and total lack of experience. You can’t swing a dead cat in the White House without hitting 5 people that have been there for 20 years and can tell you every last item of protocol for a visiting dignitary from Himynameistan.
The snubbing of PM Brown wasn’t out of ignorance — it was very deliberate. And good Lord, we have another 3 years and 10 months of this crap.
Brendt, you and I totally agree on this. This was no mistake at all. Everyone in the White House has been around long enough to know how to politely tell someone to piss-off, except, this wasn’t that polite.
I have to be honest here and say if I were in politics, I’d be withdrawing (subtly) areas in which we support the US, because to me Obama put the writing clearly on the wall.
I’d just save it all for the guy or lady who becomes the next recipient of the Oval Office.
Want to know why Obama acts this way? Read the new book “The Root of Obama’s Rage” an excellent examination of Obama’s behavior and history that fuels his actions. It’s an eye opener.
You will note that American’s have (finally) awakened from their Koolaid induced coma and see this fraud for who he is.
Yes, we let the wolf into the barn. However, now we are fixing the error. November 2, 2010 was a great sign that we won’t tolerate those that think like Obama any longer.
All we ask for is your patience and support.
Good people like Churchill are very hard to find now days, but they are not gone.
We don’t deserve to have the Resolute items, nor the bust of Churchill until we once again demonstrate to the world we stand for our own ideals and the ideals those items represent.
