The M42 Motorway Last Friday at 18:30

For people whom may drive with too much pride, or always want to be in front, or simply while using a mobile phone, day dreaming or falling asleep – let me say this;

Never Overtake a Truck on the inside and hover around its front wing blindspot. If you can’t see the driver in the trucks mirrors – the driver can not see you.

This is me and my truck; I actually had to push this car clear of the intersection to guarantee the safety of the lady in it.

Sadly these pictures haven’t turned out too well and I had to stop taking them due to the magnitude of EMS personnel that finally turned up (36 in all).

Tonight this lady rests in hospital – her next few days totally screwed.

Last night I got Slimed

So last night I’m pottering around the blogs and ended as ever on RWS. Kathy was running a live chat in her blog while they were all watching a live debate with Hilary Clinton and the Obama bloke (or is that the wrong way around?)

I have never seen Obama talk or watched any video of him so I had a quick look around the web for a live video stream.

Sure enough MSNBC were streaming the debate so I sat back and watched.

I wasn’t listening too closely to the words being spoken; I was watching the choreographed candidates trying to hide their traits.

The upshot of this was disturbing…. In my own personal view I have not seen such a lost, slime ball fake sincerity ridden politician than Mr Obama.

He changed subjects that he didn’t know about with subjects that could not be avoided by the interviewers.

If Obama gets the nomination – then the best anyone can do (irrespective of which side of the fence they are on) is vote for McCain.

If it comes down to McCain vs. Clinton (which I believe it will) it will be a tough call and a very good selection for the real run to the White House.

Hilary Clinton is measurable; she is effectively the devil you know. You know her strength and certainly her weaknesses.

Obama seems to be using something about himself to gain free leverage and it’s not about his colour. I just don’t know enough about him to be able to comment on that.

I do not believe this man would make the right decision in a crisis – rather the wrong decision because of the feeling that he should be seen to act. And we’ve already had that.

Road Kill

roadkill.jpg

Just what is the best road kill?

Last Sunday morning at 03:30 I’m driving an empty milk tanker from a dairy in Westbury, via Frome (pron froom), Glastonbury, then on to the M5 southbound for home. There’s no one on the road so I’m kicking the life of it.

This is a ton of fun in an artic (semi).

Just as I came over the top of a hill on the approach to Frome there were a group of rabbits in the road. I thought, If they stay still they’ll be fine – but they’re rabbits. I know I got four of them.

Badgers, they’re messy and when you hit them it sounds like someone throwing a bucket of water on to the road.

Fox’s, kinda boring but lots of them these days.

Deer – best avoid in a car, great sport in a truck.

Horses and cows – to be avoided unless driving armour.

If you ever wonder why I make children cry – you’re reading it.

Why I will never own a Marshall

People who know me know that for as long as they have known me – I’ve wished to own a Marshall Amplifier. It’s not as though I can’t afford one because I can, so what is the problem? The thing is this – which one?I can not find a shop with every single one they make to compare them.Further to this, I live a somewhat nomadic lifestyle, so what would be great at this location will be too big or too small at my next place and so on. In 2000 I was lucky enough to be invited to the Marshall factory and finally in 2006 I went along to Bletchley and had a good look for myself. For such a small place you wouldn’t believe the impact Marshall have had globally on every genre of music you can think of.Corridors are lined with photographs of every band and artist you’ve heard of and in many cases have already forgotten .The staff are all enthusiasts too and guitars often sit next to desks (somewhat like my working environment).Everyone is always keen to talk and are amazingly helpful (unlike many retailers). It’s not like the other thing I covert and wish to own; the Taylor K 22ce acoustic guitar.  k22ce2_l7-lg.jpgThe Problem with this guitar which is made of the finest Koa (a wood that only grows in Hawaii above 5000ft and is also protected…… It cannot actually be cut down – yep they have to wait for a tree to fall down). The TK22CE is not cheap, it has a price tag of £3500 to £3999 in the UK and twice I have sat in a shop playing one with the money to buy it – but didn’t.The problem is this – I simply do not believe my playing standard is good enough to complement the instrument.Marshall on the other hand compliments any and all playing styles (even that of Dave Bones lol) and until I finally settle somewhere, I doubt I will ever own one.

UPDATE:

I now own a Marshal LOL
